Sew and sew

As is often the case on a Saturday, I took the girls to Borders book shop to their kids club which is always lots of fun. I had a little peruse of the books on the way to the kids section and found this little beauty! Of course I had to buy it hehe.

This was the first project that appealed to me :o)

I've made a start on a lilac bag for Abigail. She's always on about my Radley bags and asks me if I'll buy her one! Yeah right!! So I'm making her a little doggy bag all of her own. I've only got so far because I don't have any lilac cotton (typical!) so I'll have to finish it tomorrow. The best thing about the book is that it is chocka full of little projects, some of them small ones that Abigail can have a go at herself. I'm kinda looking forward to teaching her how to sew (not that I am particularly experienced!)

Check out little pooch. Thought he would look cute with his head at a jaunty angle hehe.

Lucky Joz!

The postie brought the fabby blog candy that I won from Kath today! Yippee I was so excited to be on the receiving end of this little lot I can tell you. Really looking forward to having a play with it :o) And check out the beautiful card that she sent me too! Stunning!!!

Thanks so much Kath!! xxx

Happily Ever After

Ooh it's like buses! No cards for the better part of a week and then I make loads in one day! I downloaded the Happily Ever After pack from NitWit yesterday and it is chock full of yummy papers and images. I printed some off this morning and have been playing with them this afternoon. It has cheered me up loads bcause I have dreadful toothache (my abscess is playing up again! Pray I get an NHS dentist soon or I may have to perform an extraction myself!) and the kids are being naughty little pixies today!

1st card I used Brenda Pinnick papers, velvet ribbon, made a doodly scalloped edge, princess image, Penny Black entiment stamp.

2nd card (my fave) I used bazzill bling cardstock, frog image, glitter glue and a doodled border.

3rd card I used butterfly image which I doodled on, Funky Hand backing paper, Doodlebug button, fibre, glitter glue and Penny Black stamp.

DCM challenge - It's all in the shape

The Design Team have been busy working on this weeks dare ' It's all in the Shape' set by me (Tanya Leigh). I'm a fan of shaped cards so thought this was a great one to do for my first dare. You can do any theme but your card has to be a shape of some sort.

I used a tiara shaped card by Craftwork cards which I love! Also used a Penny Black birthday stamp, K&Co rub ons, die cut letters by Craftwork cards, Doodlebug sequin flowers & brads, Purple 3d paint and lots of glitter glue.

Have just made another shaped card so thought I'd add this one on too. This was dead quick & easy. The flower is a download printed out and stuck onto a square card blank. I then cut round the circle again to make the card circular. I added a doodlebug button in the centre attached with pink ribbon. Next lots of doodling and then I stamped the word friend around the edge of the card.

Scrummy Stash Cafe challenge - Wedding Bells

Yes we're heading in to June, the beginning of the wedding season and this weeks challenge is to create a wedding themed project. Cards, layouts, altered art... we want to see your creations!

I used papers and card from a DCWV wedding stack, A Woodware stamp which I paper pieced to give the image a bit more depth, spotty ribbon and a Funky Fairy "kissy kissy kissy" stamp :o)

Digiscrap page

I've been curious about digital layouts for a while and had a go at one this evening. I never really understood why bother cos I like too get messy and tactile with stash. I have downloaded a fabby kit today though with the intention of printing elements off to craft with in real life hehe. I thought I would have a little go at a digital layout though and it was fun :o)

Funky Fairy challenge 22 - Summer

Another week, another challenge. This week the theme is summer and the challenge can ve found here. As ever, one lucky winner will win a download of their choice from the Funky Fairy shop.

For my card I used cool co-ordinates paper and cut flowers out of one of the Funky Flowers papers to add on to the bikini top. I love this card, the template to make it can be found here.

Soup face

When I was getting the hoover out this morning, there was a slight incident with a collapsed shelf. Anyhow whilst I was tidying it all up I came across some photo albums containing loads of pics of my eldest daughter Abbi when she was about the same age that Maddie is now (2). Amongst the pics was one that I had forgotten about of Abbi absolutely lathered in tomato soup. I had nipped upstairs to the loo and when I came down she had smeared tomato soup all over her face. She looked so funny I couldn't shout! I took a photo instead!! I just had to scrap that photo! She was wearing a bright knitted dress from Gap on the pic and as tomato soup is so bright the colours on the scrap page are very bright and cheerful.

I've used bazzill card, K&Co Mira paper, assorted ribbons, glitter glue, K&Co felt stickers, doodles and some stitches stamps that my lovely friend Carol sent me as a thankyou for a favour :o)

DCM challenge - beads

This week the challenge is set by Sue -
For my dare this week I would like you to make a card that incorporates beads somewhere in the design…..it’s as easy as that!
It can be one bead, lots of beads, big beads, and small beads, whatever you like as long as there’s at least one on your card somewhere.

For my card I had a go at making a butterfly with some craft wire and beads - not as easy as I thought it would be. The backing papers are by Brenda Pinnick.I've also used a Sue Dreamer sticker and some purple velvet rikrak ribbon.

Funky Fairy challenge 21

It's that time of the week again!

The challenge this week was set by Lou and she has asked us to make a card/layout using no backing papers whatsoever! All backgrounds must either be stamped, inked, painted or chalked (for example) and any topper or embellishment must also be made using a rubber stamped design/image. The sentiment as well should be stamped and not printed from the computer or a rub-off. The only concession to paper/card that will be made, is for matting and layering purposes only.

I had great fun with this. I decided to have a go at a pop up card. I've never made one before and I really enjoyed myself. All stamps used can be bought here. I used Funky Fairy number 9.

I do hope you get chance to join in with the challenge this week :o) As ever, one lucky winner will get a free download of their choice, so pop over to the challenge blog and have a go - you know you want to :o)

Blog candy!!!!

My Funky Hand DT chum Kath is giving away some blog candy to celebrate 100 posts. To enter you need to leave a comment telling her who your craft hero is and leave a link on your blog to the blog candy post. Check it out here and while you're there have a good old rummage around her blog because she is incredibly talented and makes totally yummy things!!

Scrummy Stash Cafe class

Every other Saturday they are doing a layout class over at Scrummy Stash Cafe. This is ideal for me as I rarely scrap so it will be good to learn more about layouts :o)

Maria did this weeks class which can be seen here. I used Brenda Pinnick papers, Doodlebug frills, made my own journalling circle as I don't have a stamp and used lots of doodling and gems and a dash of glitter glue.

Friday 16 May 2008

UK scrappers homepage class

I had a go at the UK scrappers homepage class which was taught by Maria at Scrummy Stash Cafe. I don't do layouts very often so thought it would be a good one to have a go at. Have a look here and see the original class. My layout is quite different in some ways but I did enjoy doing it :o)

DCM challenge - animalia

This weeks challenge is set by Mel

I've based my dare on the book by Graeme Base called 'Animalia' (just because that book happened to be sitting near my desk when I realised it was my turn for the dare this week).

So, all you have to do is create a card featuring an animal.

Sadly my mojo has buggered off (again!). I'm feeling down in the dumps today and not very creative but I have managed to scrape a card together. I used papers by Funky Hand, a doggy embossing folder, a scalloped frame, a Sue Dreamer layered sticker and lots of doodles.

I decided to make a second card as I wasn't that happy with the first. I didn't use any papers with this one. I used woodware stamps to create a background directly on the card. I also used ribbon, coloured cardstock and doodling.

Scrummy Stash Cafe travel challenge

The challenge this week is travel.

Today we want you to create something with a travel theme. Anything you like, a bon voyage card, good luck on your trip card, a holiday or transport themed layout - there are plenty of possibilities!

This really was a challenge as I don't have much stash in the way of travel type stuff. In the end I had lots of fun creating a doodley card with added Blonde Moments papers. Please excuse my child like drawing!! lol!!!!

My time to craft challenge

This week the my time to craft challenge is dark hair. I have made a card using a Sarah Kay image.

Shaz the funky fairy has made a beautiful card using a Sarah Kay image. Apparently these images are being made into stamps but for now Shaz downloaded some colouring images from the internet. Now as a child I used to have Sarah Kay posters on my wall and loved them so Shaz very kindly sent me the images she had downloaded so I could have a play too :o)

Here is the first card I have made. I used bazzill card stock and Heidi Grace papers plus a Prima flower and a button.

Yikes I've been tagged!!

That little tinker Tip Top has tagged me! She is a very talented crafter and fellow Funky Hand DT member. Do check out her fantastic blog here.

1. If a movie was being made of your life who would you like to be cast to play yourself and why?

Well I don't know that I would like her to play me as such but she should. The lady in question is Tubbs Tattsyrup from The League of Gentlemen. The reason she should play me is the uncanny physical resemblance she bears to me.

2. You are spending a whole month on a desert island for charity, and you have to choose your favourite celebrity to spend the first two weeks with you and & your least favourite celebrity to spend the second two weeks with, who would they be and why?

The first 2 weeks I would spend with Russell Brand. There are several reasons for this.....firstly he is a love God with incredible stamina (so I hear) so he could take my mind off being stranded. The second reason is that he is very very funny and clever too so he could make me laugh and provide me with stimulating conversation.

The second person.......hmmmm.........this is hard! Ok I would choose.....I can't do this! There are just so many to choose from who get on my wick! Hmmm.....ok! The annoying junkie Pete Doherty. Firstly so that the pasty twerp can actually see the sunlight and secondly to force him to go cold turkey. He is such a complete waste of space that one! yuk!!

3. What are your 3 favourite crafting products?

Oh all these questions!!! The pressure - I can't take it!!! I love my Cuttlebug but don't use it often enough. I also have a button & ribbon fetish!

4. If you could invent something what do you think it would be?

The never empty purse. Spend spend spend.....you will never get to the bottom of this purse full of cash! Sounds gooooood :o)

5. What are the last 3 books that you read?

The Memory Keeper's Daughter, Diva's Don't Knit and What Was Lost.

6. QVC or Create and Craft?

To be honest......neither! They both get on my t...s! However I do watch C&C when Anice from Funky Hand is on :o) I just get fed up with the presenters most of them are incredibly annoying.

7. What is your claim to fame?

Ok....brace yourselves!! I have met The League of Gentlemen 3 times. I have also met Gloria Estefan and have Stu Francis' (I could crush a grape!) autograph. But the best one is that I have lightly cupped David Coulthard's (F1 driver) left buttock! And very nice it was too :o)

Phew, done!

Now I have to tag 5 peeps so I choose

Anice
Jo Kill (my craft hero!)
Shaz
Vanessa
Lulu

Funky Fairy

Ain't she cute? A big bag of fabby stamps arrived from Shaz (Funky Fairy) this morning. I had a little play with some of them this afternoon, teaming them with the fabby FREE doodlementals add on papers which can be found here. All stamps are available in Shaz's shop Funky Fairy's Papercrafts. Little Funky Fairy is a trainee fairy so she can't wear her wings all the time o) I've mainly been messing with masking today and it has been fun!

DCM team dare - Recycle!

This week we have a team dare for you ....and we have been looking at Recycling once again. BUT there is a tiny twist! (you'd expect no less eh?) We want you to have a look at old shop bought greetings cards, wrapping paper or gift bags which you have received in the past and recycle any elements to make a card of your own.
You could use them to make backgrounds, cut small focus pieces out, or use the flowers, ribbon and other interesting bits and pieces that are often attached to the cards.

Another tricky one for me as I tend to recycle shop bought cards. I did find an old anniversary card in the bottom of a drawer which looks like it's been trampled on but beggars can't be choosers! lol

I used a red square card blank, Basic grey paper, a paperartsy stamp and lots of doodling.

Yippee!

I've won a prize!! A £10 evoucher for the Scrummy Stash Cafe. I'm so excited! I entered my mini Maddie book in their baby challenge the other week and it won :o)

Another cause for excitement is that some of my designs are going to be on the telly box today. Anice at Funky Hand has a show on Create & Craft at 11am! I really hope that nothing of mine drops to bits when she show it!!! Can you imagine?? All my fellow designers at Funky Hand are dead excited about he show so WHOOHOO!

I've not made much this week. The bits and bobs I have made I can't blog yet. Once the new Funky Hand download is released at the weekend I can blog stuff. And of course there is the new challenge card for Funky Fairys Challenge blog which is set by me next week so that will be revealed on Monday :o)

That's all the news from Jozza today xxx

Monday 5 May 2008

Funky Fairy Challenge 19 - Going Dotty!

It's Monday again which means a new challenge which this week has been set by Han.

I decided to do something with Dots, hence the title "Going Dotty". Just use some kind of dots or spots on your projects.

You can find the challenge here and it's worth entering because each week a winner will be able to choose a download of their choice for free from the Funky Fairy shop which is here.

For my card I used papers from the fabby free doodlementals download available on the Funky Fairys Inspirations site here.

DCM challenge AD-dicted

This week the challenge was set by Lythan.
I want you to browse the tv and magazines for advertisments and use them as inspiration. It might be the format, the colours, the products, the slogan - whatever floats your boat.

Ooh this was a tricky one! I used a Sizzix advert out of Scrapbook magazine for inspiration. Products used were A5 white card blank, Blonde Moments papers, watercolour pencils and Paperartsy stamps.

The advert :o)

Funky Fairy recipe challenge

I've neglected my blog this week - naughty Joz! I've had a few days off from crafting as it was getting a bit manic, but yesterday I posted all my samples off to Anice at Funky Hand so I feel like the pressure is off a bit now. I am very excited that some of my creations will be on TV!!! The show is at 11am next Friday on Ideal World (9th May).

Anyhow, back to the Funky Fairy challenge :o)
This week's challenge was set by Lydia. The recipe was -

To use 3 colours ONLY
1 piece of r
ibbon
3 buttons...hand made OR the real thing

AND
to use a paper punch somewhere on your design

I used the colours black, green and white. The papers are Funky Fairy meadows. I did cheat a bit and cut my "piece" of ribbon into 3! The punch I used was a flower punch.
