More yummy papers, embossing powder (ultra thick) & glossy accents

Lily of the valley stuff which mum & I split.

More papers! some adirondak dabbers, glitter glue, chipboard alphatots.

Die cut sentiments, DST, card blanks, cuttlebug embossing folder, and some stamps! Looking forward to playing with it all!

DCM challenge - plastic fantastic!

This week's challenge is to use plastic packaging on a card. I've had fun with this and produced without a doubt the most bizarre card I've ever made!

This is what I used. The bottom of a bottle of Robinsons squash which looks vaguely flower like.

And it was bloody hard cos the plastic at the bottom is ruddy thick! I wanted to cut out the flower - impossible! So I ended up with the most sticking out embellishment in history. It's hilarious!! But I like it.

I used DCWV glitter matstack, the plastic thingy, gold paint & krylon, ribbons and a happy birthday sticker. Great fun!! :-)

Oh and it was almost impossible to stick my pokey tool through the middle to get the brad through! Don't know how I managed it without maiming myself!

Sunday stampers - week 4

This weeks challenge is to get inky and messy with birds (no not in a pervy way! LOL). I was a bit stuck until I remembered my paperartsy stamps so I made a tag for the challenge...

I used mountboard, distress ink in fired brick, paperartsy stamps, black stazon, 3 brads, an eyelet and some black fibres. Ooh and a gold krylon pen. It was dead quick and easy, took about 15 mins in all. It had to be really as I sent my OH out with the kids to a birthday party for 2 hours saying I needed to get the ironing done (which was true and I have done it) but thought it best that he didn't come home to find me up to my neck in inky messy crafty things!

Angel

I realise this may not be everybody's cup of tea, but I'm really proud of this. I wanted to make something to hang in my bedroom of Maddie as I have no pics of her in there, just some of her big sister. As I like to faff around with photos on't computer, I used one of my fave images of her from her Christening when she was 19 months old. I played around with the hue and saturation to make her blue eyes stand out a bit more and her skin paler. I then printed it and cut her out and had a good old play! T'was fun :-)

I used an 8" square piece of mountboard, bazzill bling card in shades of blue, rub on wings, a dovecraft gem word, grungeboard crown & swirl, lots of prima flowers, lots of ribbons, eyelets and silver acrylic paint. Maddie is my angel as she was sent to me after 2 miscarriages! This is one of my favourite things I've made.

Sunset

I took the kids to the lake near us to feed the ducks this afternoon. We're very lucky it's only a 5 minute walk from where we live. Abbi rode her bike and Maddie trotted along behind her. I took my camera along determined to catch some pics of the sunset, although the sky was nowhere near as beautiful as it has been.

We had a lovely time. It was cold but nice to get fresh air and exercise before tea. As usual, the kids ate some of the bread, then a huge golden retriever came running up, scattering the geese and ducks out of the way and literally hoovered all the bread up off the ground! It was so funny. The owner came running up apologising saying how she does feed him - honest! The kids thought it was great!

Does my bum look big in this?

This is the second card I've made using Henrietta....

I just lurve Henrietta!! I used DCWV papers, a silver krylon pen, Pink Petticoat images, a bloom from Lakeland and a brad coloured silver (ooh and I stickled her eyelashes!). x

Henrietta DCM challenge card

The new images from Pink Petticoat are fab! So I bought them!! Made a mothers day card with them today for the DCM challenge which is to make a card in the theme of love and friendship........

I used papers that came free with Scrapbook Inspirations magazine ages ago, Pink Petticoat images, DCWV sticky ribbon, doodling, Marvy pens, a brad and glitter glue.

Hi!

As the craft juices were still flowing, I made another card with my Lola Sugar Nellie stamp...

I used the Lola stamp, Basic Grey paper, Marvy Le Plume pens, Blooms from Lakeland coloured with ink pads, brads and alphabet stickers.

Papercraft Inspirations templates

My copy of Papercraft Inspirations dropped through the letterbox yesterday. The free gift this month is some fab templates so I set about making a card using 2 of them - a flower and a plantpot.

I used Doodlebug patterned papers, ribbons, the templates (obviously!), a button and quite a lot of doodling! x

DCM extra dare

Thought I'd have a go at the extra dare set by the daring card makers. It is to create a card with a romantic theme and use red and black ribbon. Here's my attempt.......

I used a red square card blank, basic grey papers, a Sugar Nellie stamp, alphabet stickers, red & black ribbons, a heart sticker and some doodling. x

You're Purrfect

Even though I had sworn off crafting for a few days, I decided I needed a play this evening to chill out so made a card with some woodware stamps I've had for yonks but hardly used.

I used the stamps, doodlebug paper, a DCWV adhesive ribbon, blue & green bazzill cardstock and marvy le plume pens. Plus a bit of doodling. x

Altered jam jar for Abbi

The worm has turned here with regards to naughty behaviour. A certain 6 yr old is being a naughty little madam of late so we have brought in a new system. She starts each day with 10p credit and loses 1p for each naughty thing she does (unless it's really bad like hitting - that's 3p) but she can earn more for doing good stuff. Twas the 1st day today and she's finished the day with 12p - YAY! Long may it continue! She wants to save up for a hamster!!!
I decided to decorate an old jam jar for her to keep her pennies in and this is it! I am actually quite pleased with this! Used lots of girly pink papers, blooms and ribbons (and a pink hairband).

Tim tag

My 1st attempt at a Tim tag. I think it is rubbish. The inks just look wishy washy to me.

Hubby's valentine

A blog is for life, not just for Christmas so I'm putting on stuff that I'm not happy with as well as stuff I like. I made this valentines card for my hubby yesterday (I was a busy gal yesterday!!) but I dunno - no matter what I did I just couldn't make it how I wanted it to look. I used 7gypsies love papers, paperartsy stamps, a grungeboard heart and some dovecraft ribbon.

Birthday card for my brother

Here it is. I used Dovecraft masculine papers, a paper nation footballer stamp (borrowed) and a freebie Happy Birthday stamp. Very simple to make. Just added a bit of doodling around the sentiment to finish.

21st card

This one is a commission for a lady at work (the one who I made the 50th birthday card for). Her son is 21 at the beginning of next month.

Where do I start with this? I am dreading giving her it in case she hates it! She gave me a list of stuff he likes rock music, football, cooking etc and I had decided to do a Newcastle United card. But then she told me that they are getting him an electric guitar for his birthday so I thought ah rock star papers! So this is it. I painted chipboard letters and numbers with silver paint. Also painted a grungeboard skull & crossbones with silver. Attached a little key to some black fibres. Did a little doodling and it's done. If she hates it I will cry! Where oh where is my mojo?

Sunday Stampers challenge

Another card I made yesterday. To be honest I think it is crap. I don't know where my mojo went yesterday but 99% of what I made was complete tosh! Anyway for what it's worth here it is.....

I used papermania papers (I think) and a stamp that came in a grab bag from Katyscorner so I have no idea who made it. I also did a bit of doodling in the corners and added some basic grey rub on ink splodges. Don't think it shows too well but there are some fibres on the right. I honestly feel like I want to tear this card up and jump up and down on it!! Maybe it's PMT?? I just don't know!

Wedding card/DCM challenge

I killed 2 birds with 1 stone with this card. A friend is getting married this month so I needed to make a card. I am hoping she's too busy with preparations to look on my blog and see the card. I used DCWV wedding paper and adhesive ribbon. A woodware wedding stamp. Fabric flowers from Lakeland. A rub on that was a magazine freebie, and distress inks to colour the background of the stamp and also the flowers.

Winter sun

We spent the afternoon in the grounds of Castle Howard on Sunday. The winter sun has a beautiful effect on scenery so I took a few pics...

I love this tree!

Probably my favourite photo of the day

Abbi having fun in the adventure playground!

The house looking very beautiful in the winter sun.

Anyone for chocolate crispie treats??

I seem to use this blog primarily for my craft stuff but this is a none craft posting! Today, Maddie helped me make some chocolate crispie treats and I photographed the occasion so that I can turn it into a scrap page. In the meantime I thought I'd put the pics up on here.......

Mmmmmmmmmmm there's something a
bout chocolate that most of us love........but melted chocolate? Well I could just dive in! Yum!

Yummy yummy yummy

Can I start mixing yet mum??

Yippee! This is fun!!

Of course it would be a crime not to eat the leftover bits!!

Scoff!! (I love this photo!!)

Munch!!!

Wonder how long this lot will last then?

Monochrome Lola with a tiny touch of pink!

I really liked the black and white Tilda card I made for the Sunday Stampers challenge the other week so thought I'd do a Lola one too.....

I used a black deckle edged card blank. I used a sheet of dovecraft paper for the background. I stamped Lola in black stazon and painted her using just grey and black marvy pens (although I added i tiny bit of pink for her cheeks at the end!). I doodled a frame with a black pen on white card then cut it out with a craft knife. I stuck it on, then added Lola over the top. I used a happy birthday rub on and doodled a border around it then added it to the card. I painted the "B" pink, then punched 2 holes in the top right of the card, added black eyelets and tied pink and black spotty ribbon through them. I like this card because it is in my fave colours of the moment. I wonder when my black and white phase will end???

Hmmmm....the bad???

I guess we should show our bad as well as what we think is ok. I made this card with my new Lola stamp and it just didn't turn out the way I expected....

I used DCWV pocket full of posies papers for this one. I cut the wavy edge out of one of the papers, doodled in blue, and stuck to a pearlescent pink card blank. Lola was stamped in black Stazon and coloured her with marvy pens (used as watercolours). I then cut her out and stuck her on some matching papers. I used an It's your day rub on on some more papers. I added some fabric flowers to finish the card off. Not sure I like it really. Hmmmmm
